The EIT Raw Materials at OHM Professional School
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an independent institution that belongs to the European Union and was founded in 2008. Their aim is to strengthen the capacity of innovation in Europe.
Within the EIT, special consortiums have been formed which are entrusted with different duties. The consortium EIT Raw Materials is responsible for making sure that the access to raw materials is given. They are also in charge of the supervision of the availability and the sustainable utilisation of raw materials. Thereby they try to provide a service to the economic system as well as to the citizen.
The mission of the consortium is to strengthen the sector of raw materials in Europe by increasing the competition, the growth as well as the desirability of this sector. An important role within this process are playing innovative manners and new ways in education. It’s fundamental to mediate knowledge and to increase the chance of developing new and innovative technologies. That’s also why the EIT is making acquisitions with students, entrepreneurs and partners in education. These groups of people will help to develop and preserve a circular economy long term.
Course: Introduction to metallurgy and properties of ferrous materials
The course that introduces the metallurgy and the properties of ferrous materials is supposed to prepare ingenieurs and economists with experience for their future duties. Especially the metallurgy, processing and use of ferrous alloys are topics in the workshop.
The workshop is targeted on employees of raw material producers as well as recycling companies. But also PhDs and Master students in the fields of chemistry, electronics and the processing science might be interested.
The instructors Dr. Jens Helbig und Prof.-Ing. Berthold von Großmann are both lectures at the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg. They will be in charge of the classroom lectures.

Practical course materials testing for metals – EIT and OHM Professional School
The trainees are supposed to gain basic knowledge concerning the properties of materials. They will also get to know what influence the quality and processing of raw materials has on the quality of the final product.
Within the process of the course mainly specialists, ingenieurs and employees of the raw-material-sector as well as the recycling-sector will develop a understanding of the properties of materials.
The practical course is a combination of lectures and practical sessions. The lecturers of the Technische Hochschule Nürnberg, Dr. Jens Helbig und Prof. Dr.-Ing. Berthold von Großmann, give a short introduction lecture. Afterwards the students test different materials on their own.
For more information about the practical course visit the website of EIT Raw Materials. There you will find the exact date, price and much more.
