Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Society and industry are subject to continual change. Demographic change, shortages in skilled employees, working and living environments that are increasingly digitalized, globalized and flexible are just a few of the catch phrases that refer to the reasons why professional development, following on a high quality education, is increasingly significant. Institutions of higher education play a key role in the course of economic, technological and social change processes. They have developed into places of lifelong learning.
The Nuremberg Institute of Technology has long been an active provider of innovative academic continuing education, regionally and beyond; as the 7,200 qualified employees and executives, who have completed our programs while fulfilling their professional obligations, can attest. In order to bundle the competences on campus and support interdisciplinary and international development, Nuremberg Tech has reorganized its continuing education programs: our institutes, which have been established for 15 years, the Georg Simon Ohm Management Institute and the Verbund Ingenieur Qualifizierung gGmbH (Verbund IQ) have merged their strengths under the umbrella brand OHM Professional School (OPS) as of October 2016. The OPS is now the main partner for professional, part-time professional development in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region.
The OPS currently offers over 20 programs for professionals – from structured master’s and bachelor’s programs including the English-language MBA in General Management to certification programs to (corporate) seminars, colloquia and conferences in the fields of engineering, business administration and social sciences. The OHM Professional School represents high quality and practice-relevant professional development that is tailored to the needs of active professionals – in terms of content, methods and organization.
In close cooperation with industry, we will continue to develop new educational programs and formats with a view to the future. New curricula will be informed by interdisciplinary specialists and characterized by bridging applied research and professional practice in international contexts.
I look forward to the continued development of the programs offered on our campus and wish the OHM Professional School, as an integral component of Nuremberg Tech, a dynamic and successful future.
